“Não há vergonha alguma em perder no esporte. O problema é perder a esportiva. O bom torcedor, é aquele que na segunda-feira, chega sempre do mesmo jeito no trabalho, com o mesmo sorriso. Essa é a principal finalidade do esporte, na verdade. Aprender a lidar com as derrotas e as vitórias, com a mesma dignidade.”

I
I agree , but sadly enough here , some football fans seem to have lost this basic notion.A few weeks ago, a fan of SFC was beaten to death by two fans of my team (SPFC) after the match. He was only 35 and had a young child .
I felt so sad and horrified. Can’t people see the difference between an enemy and an opponent ?Besides, as u wrote ,defeat and victory are both part of life and we have to cope with both graciously.
Hi Mandy. Great to read you again.
It’s true. I think it’s because sports are the best way of transfering the war feelings some men have inside. Since they do exist, we have to work ‘em out. They are terrible feelings. Some men still feel like killing everyday, and they are not policemen or dangerous thieves, therefore, they use football, our first sport in Brazil, to express these feelings.
We have to understand the world, the way it is. There are lots of angry people on Earth. Nobody teach them love, and it means we’ll still keep on watching these terrible things happening in our society.
If it were not in football, it’d be inside their houses again, with their wives and kids.
